Help Your Teen Achieve A Positive Life Balance

It can be hard to find time for everything and everyone in just a day, but if your teen sets priorities, makes goals and laughs a little, the day will seem a little less daunting to them.

Set Priorities

Encourage your teen to look through their calendar and decide what needs to be done first and what is most important. Not everything needs to be done at once, and spacing out big school projects over a few nights will reduce pressure and stress and free up time for them to have fun.

Set Realistic Goals

When your teen is setting their priorities, remind them to keep realistic goals in mind. Ask them to consider what needs to be done first and how much time they have to do it. They should schedule more time than they think they’ll need, just in case.

Have Fun

Homework, studying and chores are all important things for your teen to stay on top of, but sometimes they need to break loose and have a little fun. Encourage your teen to find a hobby and set aside some time every day just for that. Having some play time will reset their brain and help them tackle their studies after supper.

Reflect

Recommend to your teen the importance of taking time to reflect on their recent accomplishments. Looking back on finished work, or work in progress, will help them maintain their goals and anticipate if they need to change up their schedule or plans.

Keep It Light

Remind your teen to not take life too seriously. Yes, there’s a time and a place to buckle down, but they also need to have a good laugh every once in a while. Laughing is a mood booster and can lead to great memories.
